Second LNG cargo for Poland's PGNiG on its way to Klaipeda

BC, Vilnius, 25.08.2020.Print version
The second LNG shipment for Poland's oil and gas company PGNiG is expected to arrive in the Klaipeda liquefied natural gas (LNG) reloading station on Wednesday, writes LETA/BNS.

The Polish company became the station's main user last spring.

The LNG bunkering vessel Coralius is to deliver around 3,200 cubic meters of gas, Klaipedos Nafta, the state-controlled operator of the station, said in a press release on Tuesday, noting that it will be the ship's first visit to the Lithuanian seaport.

According to the vessel tracking websites Marinetraffic.com and Myshiptracking.com, the Coralius is coming from Norway to Lithuania via the Swedish port of Malmo.

"In less than five months, we received two LNG loads, and over 100 tank trucks loaded with liquefied natural gas have already left the station," Jerzy Kwiecinski, the president of the PGNiG Management Board, was quoted as saying in the press release.

"It is over 1,800 tons of LNG, which equals over 27,000 MWh," he added.

Klaipedos Nafta CEO Darius Silenskis described 2020 as a breakthrough year for the onshore LNG distribution reloading station designed to accept LNG from small-scale carriers, temporarily store it and load it onto LNG trucks or vessels.

PGNiG signed a five-year strategic partnership agreement with Klaipedos Nafta last November and started its operations in Klaipeda in April.
